A new Fire TV navigation for live TV

Amazon features a navigation overhaul for live TV on Fire TV. Making it easy to add TV channels, this update comes with a new channel guide.

A customizable interface for live TV on Fire TV

At a time when we deplore in France the loss of the free channels of the TF1 and M6 groups on Molotov, the reference application for streaming French television channels, Amazon just announced on his blog new options for live TV on Fire TV.

As of today, you can in fact personalize your channel guide displaying the new option “Add Channels”. To get there, nothing could be easier, just select the “Live” tab. Once on the channel guide, simply press the menu button on your remote (with three horizontal bars) to display the option "Add Channel". From then on, you can easily add additional live channels from your favorite apps for a more personalized live experience than ever before.

If the channels are not lacking across the Atlantic, it is unfortunately the opposite in France where only two applications are compatible with the feature: France.tv (6 channels) and Pluto TV (45 channels all the same!).

Although the app myCanal for Fire TV is very popular with French users, the audiovisual group Canal Plus does not seem to want to make any particular effort for the platform ofAmazon, as also evidenced by the lack of voice control over its application. As for the TF1 or M6 groups, they still haven't officially ported their Android apps to Fire TV. It's unfortunate.

A richer channel guide

Amazon also made it easier to access live TV channels with just one click through a dedicated guide button present on voice remote controls Alexa the most recent (from 2021).

And of course you can always use the voice commands to directly access your live tv favorites. Just ask Alexa put on your favorite channel, search for programs, or simply display the guide.

Fascinated by Alexa since the day I received it in beta test, I gradually became passionate about the subject, before deciding to go further by creating a site with Jean-Christophe. An activity that allows me to quench my thirst for new technologies and share my discoveries about the nicest of communities: Les Alexiens.
