Nice launches Yubii Home, its multi-protocol home automation box

After the takeover of Fibaro in 2018, a Polish company well known for its eponymous boxes, Nice bet more than ever on the connected home and officially launch Yubii Home, a " new smart home experience »Which makes it possible to control the aspects of comfort and safety of a house thanks to a multiprotocol home automation box.

Relying in particular on the Z-Wave protocol, the solution of the Italian company wants to be interoperable and relies on the simplicity of use… An important point which we evoked moreover quite recently through our Homey Pro test, a solution that is also proprietary, but offering no less than seven home automation protocols.

With Yubii Home, Nice goes further in home automation

Franck Pichereau, President of Nice France, confirms the group's wish to strengthen its presence in the home automation sector: “ Our core business is the motorization of gates, garage doors, shutters and blinds. For the past few weeks, we have been entering the world of smart home. We have been studying this market for several years, notably with the takeover of Fibaro in 2018 ».

Since 2018, the company has been marketing the Fibaro brand and has launched some home automation accessories to make its automation compatible. Today, Nice is therefore taking a new step forward with the launch of Yubii Home, an ecosystem obviously making it possible to manage all the solutions of the group's brands. From Nice to Fibaro, via elero, according to the manager, it is a question of proposing " a global offer for the whole house ».

Yubii Home relies on protocols Z-Wave (700), Wi-Fi (802.11 b / g / n) and radio frequencies on the bands 433 and 868 Mhz. Open to third-party devices, it promises compatibility with more than 5 pieces of equipment such as Philips, Hikvision, Sonos, Yale, Dahua or Bose, and offers compatibility Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple Siri and IFTTT.

No ZigBee and Bluetooth Low Energy in sight, which is a bit surprising given the dynamics around the Universal Matter Protocol, but the company seems to follow the file closely according to the leader of its French subsidiary: " We are entering a market that is still developing and with discussions around the world on a single protocol for all connected equipment in the home.. It is necessary to set a standard because the multiplication of protocols has slowed down the market ". We can only agree!

A multichannel strategy between individuals and professionals

In the age of home automation DIY, where open source and / or free software such as Home Assistant and Jeedom allow you to manufacture a home automation box at a lower cost, do professional installers have a future? If we are more nuanced on the question, Nice thinks so and intends to maintain its strategy as a multi-channel player, by strengthening its presence among professionals while developing an offer for individuals.

« Historically, we have worked with specialized installers, OEMs, GSBs, distributors of electrical equipment and e-commerce sites, between 15% and 25% of sales each. To begin with, we are going to rely mainly on our installers who we will take towards this new profession. There is some reluctance due in particular to a lack of knowledge of the home automation sector. »Specifies Franck Pichereau.

Fibaro Inside?

Fine connoisseurs will probably have noticed a family resemblance between the Yubiii Home and Fibaro applications, which is not surprising, the Nice Yubii Home box otherwise furiously resembling the Fibaro Home Center 3 Lite. The same goes for the hardware which is strictly identical.

In short, Yubii is neither more nor less than the twin of the last born of Fibaro, and seems intended for small home automation systems and small surfaces. Since Nice is better known to the general public, it should more easily reach an audience discovering the joys of " smart home ».

La Nice Yubii Home home automation box is available to order at 159 € only at Domadoo, the French specialist in home automation e-commerce.
