Lidl Home: the home automation solution available again on November 8

La home automation solution Lidl Home had made a real hit when it was released in France last February. Despite a second appearance a month later and short sales in July, the Livarnox Lux smart bulbs and the starter set with the ZigBee SilverCrest gateway were, since, very difficult to obtain in the French stores of the sign. For your greatest happiness, the hard discounter returns for the fourth time this year with a new operation Smart Home from November 8, 2021.

The SilverCrest home automation gateway at only € 19.99!

With its ZigBee 3.0 protocol, the SilverCrest home automation gateway is an interesting choice if you embark on the automation with voice assistants Alexa or even Google Assistant. Offering low latency and reduced consumption, this non-proprietary hub connects very simply to the network via an RJ45 Ethernet port and becomes the center of your network Smart Home.

Operating thanks to the platform Tuya / Smart Life, the SilverCrest home automation gateway is interesting if you do not yet have a ZigBee hub and you are using Google Home. Indeed, its use with Amazon Alexa is less obvious, but not impossible nonetheless.

Lidl Home: our opinion on the SilverCrest home automation gateway

Livarno Lux: a convincing connected lighting range

Beyond the catwalk, it is above all the range of connected bulbs, LED strips and connected sockets that seduced us.

Lidl offers particularly interesting connected objects:

  • The Livarno Lux E27 smart bulb : available in RGBW at 9.99 € or in variable whites at 7.99 €, it offers very satisfactory colors and very appreciable reactivity for a low price.
  • The Livarno Lux E14 smart bulb : available in RGBW at 9.99 € or in variable white at 7.99 €, the quality of this LED bulb has us, so to speak, stunned. Its ZigBee protocol makes it as efficient as it is open and its 470 lumens in cool white do not deserve the competition. Admittedly, it must be recognized that the colors do not equal those of the Philips Hue White & Color E14, but given its price, difficult to ask it to do as well as the Dutch bulb charged 4 to 5 times more.
  • The Livarno Lux GU10 LED bulb : available in RGBW at 9.99 € or in variable whites at 7.99 €, it is certainly a bit ugly, but the whites are superbly well rendered and the colors very good and clear, even if its brightness drops drastically at certain wavelengths. Nevertheless, 4 to 5 times cheaper than a Philips Hue, it presents a undeniable quality / price ratio.
  • The Livarno Lux connected LED strip : available at 17.99 €, this 2 meter long RGBW LED strip has a remarkable quality / price ratio. Offering 16 million colors and variable whites, its ZigBee 3.0 protocol allows you to use it as desired with the Lidl gateway, with a Philips Hue bridge or directly with your speakers Amazon Echo equipped with a hub.
  • The connected plug SilverCrest ZigBee : available at only 9.99 €, it may be a bit big, but we can do with it, eh? Whether with a hub Amazon Echo, Philips Hue or Tuya with the SilverCrest home automation gateway, it offers reduced latency making it pleasant to use daily. Moreover, its robust design and its 16A allow you to connect a large number of devices.

The Lidl Home catalog

As usual, the brand does not guarantee their availability, stating that Lidl Home home automation products are in limited quantities. Hurry, there won't be something for everyone… 😉

Here is the catalog page for the week of November 8, 2021:

Fascinated by Alexa since the day I received it in beta test, I gradually became passionate about the subject, before deciding to go further by creating a site with Jean-Christophe. An activity that allows me to quench my thirst for new technologies and share my discoveries about the nicest of communities: Les Alexiens.
