Unearthed yesterday by our American colleagues on the Canadian version of the e-commerce site, the new Kindle Paperwhite 2021 was probably to be presented on the occasion of the event Amazon Devices & Services 2021 that we announced to you at the end of the day. With a larger screen, thinner edges and wireless charging, the new opus from the most famous digital e-reader brings some new features without revolutionizing the genre ...
Kindle Paperwhite 2021: still the same… only better!
Apparently posted in error yesterday on Amazon Canada and Mexico, Kindle Paperwhite 2021 is now also visible on Amazon France.
As expected, its screen has gained a few centimeters of diagonal since it now displays its content on 6.8 inches, 0.8 more than the 2018 model. But the e-reader is nonetheless compact with 12.5 cm wide, 17.4 cm high and only 0.81 cm thick. It's less than a centimeter more on each side (the previous version measures 11,6 x 16,7) and even a hair thinner, which therefore means thinner edges and more elegant.
Obviously designed for reading, it has a flat front and a 300 dpi glare-free display which reads like a real printed page, even in direct sunlight, thanks to its 16 gray levels with an adjustable warm lighting . Power side, Amazon says it able to display your favorite pages 20% faster, enough to turn the pages of your favorite digital books at full speed.
Books that you can store in incredible quantities, the Kindle Paperwhite 2021 being available in 8 GB version and 32 GB Signature Edition that you can obviously download very easily thanks to its Wi-Fi connectivity (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz). No cellular connectivity, however, but which today does not have a nearby smartphone whose connection it can share?
Immerse yourself in reading with a water resistant e-reader
Like its big sister Oasis, the brand new Kindle Paperwhite allows you to read without fear in the bath, by the pool or at the beach. Classified IXP8, it can indeed withstand accidental immersion in fresh water up to 2 meters deep for 60 minutes, but also in sea water up to 0,25 meters deep for 3 minutes. Not bad, isn't it?
Regarding autonomy, the e-reader allows battery life of up to 10 weeks at the rate of half an hour of reading per day (wireless connection deactivated and brightness on 13) and is now recharged in 2 hours via a 30W USB-C charger (allow 9 hours via a computer), or even for its 5 GB version using a Qi wireless charging station (sold separately).
