By a discreet e-mail to its customers, Amazon just announced that there would be from now no more extra costs for HD music in its subscriptions Amazon Music. Excellent news that will allow all subscribers to benefit from Music "Loss less" without additional cost and which has the merit of greatly simplifying the price list of the audio streaming service of the e-commerce giant ...
Amazon Music: the free HD option!
In September 2019, Amazon had surprised his world by revealing his offer of "loss less" music. Available a year later in France, it was then necessary to agree to an additional expenditure of 5 € / month to benefit from it. A price positioning nonetheless interesting compared to the competition, the equivalent at Deezer or Qobuz being billed € 19,99 / month.
Today, the e-commerce giant goes even further and includes the HD option in all of its subscriptions. If you had subscribed to the HD option, you will therefore pay 5 € less per month ! And, if you had stayed at a "classic" offer, you will now be able to take advantage of theentire catalog in CD quality and a growing catalog in Ultra HD.
HD music for everyone
Since its launch, the service has continued to enrich its catalog and today offers 70 million tracks available in CD quality, or the entire catalog, and several million titles in “Ultra HD”.
From a technical point of view, Amazon Music offers one of the best qualities available on the market thanks to a 16-bit FLAC encoding and 44,1 kHz sample rate equivalent to CD quality across its entire catalog, millions of titles are also available in Ultra HD with an 24-bit FLAC encoding and 192 kHz sample rate, characteristics that meet the 24-bit Hi-Res label.
The service is compatible with many devices: desktops via the app Amazon Music for PC and Mac, smartAndroid and iOS phones, but also on its streaming boxes Fire TV Stick et Fire TV Cube. Regarding the speakers Alexa, the whole range is obviously compatible, but you will only really feel the difference on Echo 4, Echo Studio or the brand new Echo Show 10.
If you have Hi-Fi equipment, many brands are compatible such as Bose, Sonos, Denon, Marantz (with built-in HEOS), Polk Audio, Definitive Technology, Sennheiser, etc.
Great news ! With the similar offer from Apple Music it would be cool for Spotify to follow suit!
There is going to be the sale of headphones / speakers in the air.
Absolutely, this is generally excellent news for music lovers as well as for artists who will no longer see their work ravaged by "savage" cuts. 😉
As Free had done with telephony by lowering prices, Amazon follows suit in the field of music. The other music providers will have to align themselves, unless they offer additional or even new services. The war is on, and this will most certainly lead to hardware updates on the part of users. To be continued… And bravo for this more than interesting initiative on the part ofAmazon..
It is very good news for consumers that we are indeed! 🙂
