That's it, the famous Fire TV Cube fromAmazon has arrived in homes across the Atlantic, the opportunity for us to discover a little better this new device which seems so promising on paper. So what is this cube with the now essential Alexa?
Amazon does not hide its ambition to make our homes smart and ultimately to offer equipment adapted to each of the rooms in our homes. All of this obviously driven by its artificial intelligence, Alexa. In the United States, the idea has already come a long way, and the least we can say is that it has met with great success with already more than 50 million devices sold. The Fire TV Cube is therefore, in a way, theAmazon Echo of the living room. Or, for the lucky ones among us, the home theater room at home. A clever mix of Fire TV and Echo. A new device offering most of the functionality of the latter, without forgetting to bring its share of innovations.
A Fire TV controlled by Alexa
Marketed at a price of $ 120, the Fire TV Cube is a real "mashup" of Fire TV Stick andAmazon Echo, however, with completely new functionalities. It does everything an old Fire TV or Chromecast dongle can do, but it also lets you control your TV with your voice. Say " Alexa, turn on the TV ”and the TV turns on. Say " Alexa, put The Grand Tour And your Prime Original content launches. Say " Alexaspear B " and Alexa opens Netflix, if you have subscribed to it of course.
We are slowly seeing the global strategy ofAmazon. From selling books and content, GAFA has transformed itself into a general e-commerce site, before marketing its own “devices” and creating its first original content. With Echo and Fire TV, Amazon can therefore be installed a little more at home, under your television, but does not come without offering you a real disruption of use.
at the same time offering its Prime customers access to a host of services: Prime Music, Prime Video, Prime Reading, Prime Photos… The circle is soon complete! If you don't have access to the content, Alexa will do the work for you to find it and will offer to buy it on Amazon. Or elsewhere, Amazon having well measured the need not to be locked into a closed ecosystem, like Apple or Google.
But let's come back to this magnificent little cube ...
